Yea Adam!
So, I was putting Adam down for his nap and had just left his room when he said he needed to go poop on the potty. I just figured he was trying to not take a nap but what if he really had to go? So I let him get up and put him on the big potty. He then said he wanted to sit on the little potty chair out in the living room. Now I knew he was just playing games but I still let him because what if?
He sits there for about 10 minutes and kept saying he went but there was nothing in the pot. At this point I'm feeding Ellie so I let him stay up and play for a few minutes until I'm finished. All of a sudden he says "uh oh" and acts like he peed on the floor but I didn't see anything. So I told him to hurry and sit on the potty. He did and after a couple seconds he jumps up and says "poop in potty" as a giant turd falls off his bottom and lands on the floor. He had gone poop but it hadn't fallen off his bottom yet.
This follows by Adam stepping in the turd, squashing it between his toes, and then freaking out! It was hilarious yet disgusting! I was so glad he actually did it but didn't enjoy the mess. So I threw him in the tub, got him cleaned up, then finished with Ellie. Then I had to fight with him to go to sleep for his nap for about a half hour because I've been telling him if he pooped in the potty he could get the new toy he's been asking for. But of course he wanted it right this minute. However, now he's sleeping. Don't say bribing doesn't work!!

First Public Restroom Use
So we met our friends for doughnuts today and Adam told me he had to go potty. And he went in the bathroom at the doughnut shop! I was so proud!! It was his first time using a public toilet. He's tried a couple times this past weekend but didn't really go but today he did. He's even been waking up pretty much dry in the mornings and after naps so things are going really well in this area. It's such a huge relief for me and he's doing so well with it. We're only putting a diaper on him at night, of course after we just bought another jumbo box! We use pullups or underwear the rest of the time. Our little boy is getting so big but I'm lovin' it!

Adam's Using the Potty!

I forgot to add that Adam has used the potty every day this week...and twice today! He sits on it in the morning but doesn't really go but it has something to do with Daddy b/c in the afternoons he goes for Bradley. He even went twice today, telling us he had to go and running to the bathroom. He did go once for me. He's getting so big! But I sure hope it works this time and we can get him potty trained. I'd love to get him out of diapers! I'm kind of pushing it right now while we're home more often but not so much that I'll scare him away from it. He sure is cute though and I love my little boy!
My Kid Wears Pink Slippers
Thank goodness for friends! We haven't done much this week but I'm so glad our friends Sarah and her daughter Leah are always willing to hang out! This is Adam and Leah yesterday trying on Leah's shoes. Yes, my kid chose the pink slippers! Adam and the playdoh animal he made at Leah's house.
We have a busy next couple of weeks coming up. This weekend we're home. I'm hoping to get a few things done since we'll be gone the next two weekends after that. This Sunday Bradley may be going back home for a shower for his brother so I'll have Ellie to myself that whole day if he does. I have to admit though that I'll probably get a little bored but maybe I'll catch up on some sleep!
The next weekend is a bbq/baby shower for my brother and sister in law who are expecting their first child, a boy, in October. We only see them once a year, if that, since he is in the Navy and they live out of state, so I'm excited for that visit with my family.
The next weekend we'll be back home for Jason's wedding, Bradley's brother. I have to admit I'm not thrilled about taking my 5 week old baby back around 40-some people two weekends in a row but what can you do? I'll just try to keep as many hands off her as I can! I think it's partly because Adam was sick all the time it seemed, just with colds but it was still miserable for all of us. And I especially don't want to get two sick kids now! I'm also not that thrilled about packing and traveling with two kids. We already pack so much stuff for just Adam I can't imagine how we'll fit everything in the car with all the stuff we'll have to pack for Ellie too! But hopefully it isn't much harder and Ellie will do alright. Adam always did pretty good traveling. He wasn't a good sleeper at home so you wouldn't expect him to sleep well away from home. Ellie on the other hand sleeps pretty well so I'm hoping traveling doesn't mess that up! Not to sound like I'm complaining because I do enjoy visiting with people. I just hope they respect how I raise my kids b/c I know it bothers some people that I don't pass my babies around and just let everyone hold them. And yeah, I know, as Bradley says...Why do I worry about it so much? All I can say is I don't know...I just love my kids and worry about stupid things when it comes to them.

Newest Member of Our Family

Meet Nemo, the newest member of the Nave family. He is Adam's pet and so far he really enjoys feeding him and watching him eat. He also likes driving his cars and trains all around the tank! I'm sure Nemo loves watching them and hearing all the noise that comes with it too.
This weekend has been pretty uneventful so far. I ran errands this morning for a little bit and have been pretty lazy the rest of the day. Bradley went to the gym and ran a few errands as well during Adam's nap and now he and Adam are at the pool. It's supposed to be a horribly hot week that I'm not looking forward to. We're supposed to go to the park at 9am on Monday morning to play and feed the ducks but even by 9am it's already in the 80's. I'm just a wimp and hate taking Ellie out in the heat. But for Adam's sake I'm sure we'll go at least for an hour or so. I took him Friday for the popsicle playdate and didn't have any troubles. He didn't even fight me when it was time to go. He just climbed into the car. Hopefully he's as cooperative on Monday!
Tomorrow we'll go to church. We haven't taken Ellie yet but since I've gotten a little milk pumped we can give her a bottle if we need to so we'll take her to her first church service. I've missed going myself and am looking forward to my church time. I feel like something is missing without that weekly worship. I really need to get off my lazy butt and clean up a little around the house. It would be nice if clean clothes didn't sit in the basket for a week! I'm so tired all the time it's so hard to motivate myself but I am getting sick of feeling like a loser so hopefully this week I'll get a little accomplished! Other than that here are some pictures of my adorable kids to enjoy!

Ellie's 2 Week Checkup
Ellie is huge compare to Adam at this time. She weighed 8 lb 11 oz and was 21 3/4 inches long. She she's gained a pound and 3 oz from her birth weight and has grown 3/4 of an inch. She is in the 90th percentile for height, 75 percentile for weight and was 50 percentile for her head circumference. She has a small head. I knew when the doctor told us that Adam was going to be short that Ellie would end up being our tall child! Oh well. She didn't get any shots today which I was thankful for. I thought she was getting three or four. Everything else looked good and we go back for a two month checkup at the end of August.
Can I just say how thankful I am for family and friends? I have the best group of mom friends who have been bringing us meals a few nights a week. I didn't realize how helpful this would be but I am so thankful for these meals. It's been so nice not to have to worry about dinner. Between feeding Ellie during her cluster feedings between 4 and 8 when she eats pretty much every hour and taking care of Adam, I can't imagine how I would ever have gotten anything put together for dinner anyway. And yesterday my fabulous stepmom and sister came up and did a thorough cleaning of our house and did a wonderful job of entertaining Adam. He cried when he woke up from his nap because they were gone!
Bradley has set up an area in the basement where I can take Adam down to play. It actually turned out really nice considering the basement is not finished. There's the chair and the couch, a tv we can watch, and a large area for Adam to drag his toys out and play. It's a nice change of scenery for Adam since it's been so hot outside I haven't been going out. It's too hot for Ellie and I hate getting all sweaty and then having to feed her.
I think I'm going to venture out on Friday and take Adam to the park for the popsicle playdate. We'll see how that goes. I'm hoping to get enough milk pumped (keep your fingers crossed for this!) that I can have one decent bottle for Ellie so we can stay a little while. Otherwise we may only be there for a half hour before heading home so Ellie can eat. But, at least we'll get out for a little bit!

July 12

So I made it through my first week of being a mom of two. It wasn't too awful. It's just hard being so tired and not being able to go anywhere yet.
Wednesday my friend Ashley came over and brought lunch. It was a nice break from being alone in the house with two kids for a whole week without adult conversation and changing a billion diapers! It helped break the week up for Adam too.
Ellie is doing fabulous! She sure likes to eat the past few days. Sometimes she goes 3 hours before eating and then sometimes, like today, I fed her at 3, then at 4, then at 5. She's been eating around 9 or 930 and night and then staying up fussy until 11 or 1130. I figured out though that it's because she's still hungry so if I just feed her again, even for a few minutes, she crashes and I can just lay her down and get some sleep myself. So tonight I'm going to try feeding her for as long as she wants, even if it's an hour, and then hopefully get to bed a little earlier. But I only get up one other time, between 2 and 3, to feed her again. She was sleeping until 7 or 8 but the past few days she wakes up around 6 to eat again. Which sucks because I have to feed her for a half hour and then Adam gets up at 630. I've taken a few naps this week but I think they make things worse. Then I just wake up feeling more tired and not having a good afternoon/evening. Today I woke up with a horrible headache and felt nauseous but luckily Ellie was sleeping and I could lay down for awhile while Bradley watched Adam.
Other than that there isn't much new to tell you. We haven't done much yet. Adam got his two bottom molars this past week. They're just poking through the gums. He's been quite a handful this past week but I think it's just that he's two...and he's going crazy being couped up in the house all day. But at least it's only for another week or two and then maybe we'll try to get to some things, if they're outside. I'm still paranoid to take Ellie to any indoor playdates where there are lots of kids because I'm a chicken when it comes to sick kids. I know Friday there's a Popsicle playdate at the park by our house so if it's not too hot I may try to make that for awhile.
So...the kids are well, Bradley and I are exhausted (me more than Bradley!) but everyone is adjusting to our new life and taking it well.

Congratulations Bradley!
Congratulations to my wonderful husband Bradley on his promotion yesterday. He is now an Engineer Scientist Level III. They aren't supposed to get those until they've been with the company five years and he's only been there four in August...guess he's doing something right! I'm so proud of him and wish him continued success in his career. He's such a hard worker and definitely deserves it! I love you!

I'm a Survivor
So it's 1:15pm and both kids are asleep! Why I'm wasting my time doing this instead of napping I don't know!
Today was my first day alone with both kids. Bradley went back to work and so far it hasn't been too bad. Adam has been a little wild but he's also been couped up in the house for a week already. I know how he feels! I'm ready to get out and do something but I'm not yet for Ellie's sake. I am one of those people who will not take the chance of getting her kid sick when they're still this little. So, if I'm not around people I'm not around germs! And I know if one kid gets something they both will and I'm not ready to deal with that.
Ellie is such a good baby so far, other than the constant pooping! It's getting a little better though. She's been eating only twice a night and that's just because I wake her up to eat. Otherwise I think she would sleep most of the night. I talked to the doctor today and he said I could let her go 4 1/2 to 5 hours before waking her up so I may try that tonight. I can't imagine getting four hours of sleep in a row already but it sure would be nice! It makes it easier to get up at 630 with Adam and take care of him all day too. Although Ellie sleeps until 7 or 8 so I wish Adam could make it until 7. Then I probably wouldn't even need a nap. It only sucks that it's the hottest week of summer so far so we aren't getting outside. Plus they're calling for some rain this week too. I'll have to think of something to entertain us all week besides tv but I'm still a little lazy and tired for that!
So, unless something crazy happens this afternoon I must say that the day has gone pretty well. I'll go take a nap and if I can get an hour in that will be pretty good.

Happy 1 Week to Ellie!
I forgot to mention that Ellie is already one week old today. Time goes by so fast!
Poop!
So Ellie didn't poop for a couple days and now she poops all the time. Yesterday I was in the process of changing her diaper and BLAST--poop sprays out everywhere! This wouldn't have been such a big deal to me except that her poop is like water. Get the picture? It was disgusting. Adam--he used to pee everywhere but he's a boy so you expect that to happen. Ellie on the other hand...didn't think I had to worry about that. And yes, she also peed everywhere yesterday too and you'd think it wouldn't be as bad as a boy, but let me tell you...it was still everywhere!
Ellie ate a lot better yesterday. Things are going smoothly on that front finally. I probably just jinxed myself! She eats about every two to three hours which is pretty good. The only thing that I don't like is that it takes her about 30 to 45 minutes to eat then we have to hold her for another 30 minutes or so until she's asleep enough to put in her bed. For some reason Bradley has no trouble getting her to sleep and back in bed but when I lay her down she wants her binky and then it falls out and she needs it again and so on...But at least last night once I got her in her bed around 330am she slept until 645 so I got a few hours sleep. I kind of enjoy being up in the middle of the night. I watched 40 Year Old Virgin last night at 3am for awhile so I figure that's some good "me" time when I can watch the movies I picked out from Netflix, not the weird ones Bradley always gets! Although I think I'd rather be sleeping!
I had my first bout of baby blues yesterday afternoon. It was cloudy outside, I was exhausted, and Bradley and Adam were outside so sitting inside in the quiet house made me lonely and I had to go outside and cry with Bradley. It also doesn't help that none of my clothes fit. And I mean NONE. I have a couple pairs of jeans I need to try on but all my shirts are either too tight because I lost all that weight before getting pregnant or they're too short for some odd reason. I really need to go shopping but how do I do that? Ellie eats every two hours so unless I know what I'm going for and where to go I can't shop that fast. Maybe I'll just do some online shopping. I feel good so far today.
Gina is on her way up. She's spending the fourth with us. Bradley is taking Adam to the Freedom Fest this afternoon. I'm bummed I can't go but I've been overdoing it the last couple days and having some pains so I figured I'd better not walk around that much. Plus we don't think Ellie should go out yet. And it'd be too hard to feed her if she decides to get hungry and we have a long walk back to the car.
So, Happy Fourth of July to everyone! Hope the Frazier Fling is going well and wish we could have been there this year.

Life With Two Kids

The proud big brother.

Adam loves her!
We decided to venture out yesterday on a family picnic. The kids both did really well and I even worked up the courage to nurse in public! Ellie was starving so what choice did I have but still, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Although most of the people were gone.

Ellie napping at the park.
So life is sure interesting now. Ellie is keeping me busy figuring this nursing thing out. Yesterday she was wanting to eat almost every hour or so and it was killing me. I figured out she wasn't getting enough and decided in the middle of the night last night after being up until about 2am to just give her a bottle. Then she slept straight from 230 until 7! Today she's been eating for about 30 minutes, or a little longer, and then sleeping for about 3 or 3 1/2 hours before eating again. My milk is finally in though so she is getting enough food now I think. I sure hope she does this tonight because I don't think I'm getting a nap today!
We've had many visitors this week. Tuesday Aunt Gina and Uncle Brian came by to meet Ellie. They could only stay for a little while but Gina is coming back up sometime this weekend to hang out. Bradley's brother Jason came by yesterday for a few minutes and his parents came by today for a few hours. I don't feel as paranoid this time around as I did with Adam. I still don't like when there are lots of people around when the baby is this young but I can handle a couple at a time. I'm sure some of you think I'm still too paranoid but I think I'm doing much better this time!
We decided to venture out yesterday to the park. Ellie had her doctor's appointment at 9am. She was 7lb 1oz but that was a normal weight loss. She's a little jaundice but nothing as bad as Adam was and it should start getting better by Friday. She hasn't had a dirty diaper since 4am on Monday night though so it would help if she could go. At least she's having wet diapers now so that's a relief to me and I know she's getting some food. Around 11 we headed over to the park. A few of our playgroup friends were there so they got to meet Ellie and Adam got to see a few of his friends, at least for a little bit. We ate a picnic lunch there and then headed home. It was nice to get out. I was in a lot of pain this morning though so I don't know if I over-did it yesterday or what that was. But at least it's better this afternoon. I'm still sore today, out of nowhere because I've been feeling just fine, but I guess that's normal.
We're hoping to go to the OFallon Freedom Fest on Friday. Last year Adam had a blast. They had a petting zoo, a helicopter to sit in, and other carnival type things. I'm hoping it's not too hot so we can all go but it might be raining also so we'll have to see. Other than that we have no big plans for the Fourth.
Whatever you do, have a happy and safe Fourth of July!
