Mississippi Day #3

Day 3 included more walks on the beach and an awesome shrimp boat tour.  We wanted to ride the boat 11 miles out to Ship Island but the kids weren't lasting very long on the beach so we decided a 70 minutes shrimp boat tour would be better.  And it was!  The kids got to ride a boat which in itself was exciting.  Then they got to watch as the net was put in the water and pulled in to see what was caught.  They liked watching the seagulls attacking everything that was thrown back in and Ellie was brave enough to hold a shrimp!

We found several hermit crabs.  The kids kept them in a "pool" for awhile on the beach and Adam kept three overnight on our last night but we decided to let them go before we left.

 Shrimp Boat Tour

Lunch after the shrimp boat tour.  And a worn out Emma!

Mississippi Day #2

Day 2 we went straight to the beach!  They have an area where you can rent umbrellas and chairs and these aquacycles.  The cycles were harder than we thought but was fun to try.

That afternoon we went to the Institute for Marine Mammals Studies where they take you around to see and touch different animals and put on a dolphin and sea lion show.
 Horseshoe crabs.

 Touching a baby alligator!

Mississippi Day #1

We headed out Sunday morning for Biloxi, MS.  Why Biloxi?  Guess it's not the usual vacation spot but we love it.  One reason was because we went there last year for spring break and it rained 2 of the 3 days we were there.  Another reason we love it is because it's not crowded!  No one thinks to go to Mississippi for vacation so the beaches aren't crowded and you don't have long lines waiting for anything.

Day #1 of our vacation was Monday.  We spent the morning at the beach and the afternoon at a cool children's museum they have down there - the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center.

Giant Lite Brite board!

Wheelchair basketball.

Adam spent a lot of time in this area.  There was a weather board, a news desk, and an ocean background where you could do the news/weather.  You could see yourself on a television screen.  He loved this part!

Summer!

 Pigtails!

Bradley built the kids a swingset for our new house.  He's amazing!  And yes...that's Ellie in the baby swing and Emma on the big swing.

Rain Rain...

Emma picked out an umbrella at the store and luckily for her it rained that day!

Book Walk

The Parks and Rec Department and the Library partnered up and put a Book Walk at Quail Ridge Park.  There are 16 posts around the lake with a page on each from the book Berlioz the Bear by Jan Brett.  So while the boys were camping with Scouts us girls checked it out.  We some wetlands with a little bridge that we checked out too.  We saw lots of wildlife sincluding a big turtle in the lake, dragonflies, butterflies, and lizards.
