Camping

Bradley wanted to take Adam camping somewhere about 2 1/2 hours away but I thought it might be a better idea to try it in our backyard first since he didn't really know what camping was. So we went and got a tent and Adam and Bradley spent Friday night outside. I honestly did not think they'd make it all night but they made it until 7am. Adam was up kind of late asking what every little sound was but eventually fell asleep.

The next afternoon we went to visit Bradley's parents who were camping at Graham Cave State Park in Danville. The mosquitos were horrible and it was hot but we hung out for a bit and then headed home. But I was reminded of why I don't enjoy camping!

Walking up to see the cave.

Adam by the cave entrance. I was kind of disappointed you couldn't go inside the cave. I thought it was a cave you could go inside and explore but there was a fence up. It was neat to shoe Adam what a cave was anyway.

Adam's 3 Year Checkup

Weight: 34 lbs 50%
Height: 37 7/8 inches 60%

I'm surprised he was in the 50% for weight b/c he's way lighter than most of his friends. I think he just had a growth spurt though because he's actually been sleeping a lot and that's unusual. He sure is three and I am learning what they say when you hear "Three is worse than two." It sure is! Adam threw a tantrum the entire time the doctor was in there. I had to hold his body while the doctor held his head to look at his ears and throat and eyes. Then today it's only 9am and he's already hit Ellie in the face and kicked her off his chair. It's like he magically learned he was three and knew to change his behavior and attitude, and not for the better! I'm going to get a reward chart today and try that. Maybe rewarding his good behavior will help him stop driving me crazy!

Other than that he's good. He refused to do the sight or hearing tests so who knows about those. And he didn't even have to get any shots! Good thing because I don't know how I would have held him down for that.

O'fallon Public Works Fair

The city had a public works fair this week so we took the kids. Bradley was home for the morning and got to join us. They had a bunch of city vehicles that the kids could get in, free hot dogs, chips, and soda, and giveaways. It was a good time.

Lowe's had some crafts for the kids, with mini hammers!

Figuring out how water towers work.

A mini trash can! The best part of the day and Adam's new favorite toy.

Missouri Botanical Gardens

We finally made it to the Botanical Gardens now that we've lived here for a few years! We went with our playgroup and had a really good time. Adam enjoyed running around with his friends and Ellie liked the water area the best. I'll definitely be taking Bradley here some day.

Cousin Joe Visits

Gina came up to watch Ellie while Adam and I went to Mom's day at his school on Thursday. It was Joe's first time visiting our house and the kids were excited about it. Adam took most of these pictures and thought it was so cool that Joe could sit in his chair.

Mom's Day at Adam's School

Thursday was Mom's Day at Adam's school. We made a scrapbook page with a photo of the two of us, got a card, a handprint w/ poem, and a rose. It was a fun day and I'm glad Adam and I got to experience some quality time together.

Our scrapbook page.

This was my favorite: his handprint with a sweet poem.

The rose Adam gave me.

This was a card they made and answered four questions:

1: What color is your mom's hair? Adam said black.

2: What color are your mom's eyes? Adam said blue.

3: What is your mom's favorite animal: Adam said giraffe

4: What is your mom's favorite food: Adam said chicken.

A card Adam made for me that has a poem on the inside.

Busy May

What a crazy month coming up! It's only the 2nd and already we've been running around busy. Yesterday I went to Columbia with the kids to babysit Joe for a few hours. I love that I'm able to get some quality time in with him and he'll know me and the kids can be friends. Today Bradley took the kids back to his parent's house for the day. I had confirmation class this morning and then training for a new work at home opportunity I'm doing. It's data entry filling in dental claims and is actual work with a weekly paycheck! I'm so excited I found this. I'm getting ready to do my first batch as soon as I post this. There is also the opportunity to do transciptioning if I want but I don't know that I have the time for that. And if I do enough data entry batches I'll make decent money every week so I won't need to.

Tomorrow we're doing church and Bradley has to go to school to turn in his test and finish his project. Then he's done with this class and only has one class and four weeks to go. He's off to Switzerland again on Monday so I'll be alone and going insane by mid-week with the kids!

Then May 16th I have a booth for Avon at a Treasure Extravaganza where they have an estimated attendance of over 750 people! Then on the 17th is Adam birthday! He'll be having his friends party at our house that day and that's always stressful. For me anyway. Sometime that week I have to find the time clean house and get everything ready.

May 31 is confirmation at the cathedral downtown. I'm excited to finally be completing this step in my faith and for the chance to go see the cathedral.

Then I'll also be working every night now. You don't get your work until sometime between 330-5pm and have to have it done by 7am the next morning. So, guess that means I'll be learning how to stay up past 9pm! But it'll be worth it. At least work you get on Friday isn't due until Sunday at 10pm so you can still enjoy your weekend.

Anyway, it's going to be a crazy busy month so if I seem kind of out of it when I'm around you that's probably why! There are a million and one things buzzing through my mind.
